Recent predictions estimate that coastal region of British Columbia has a 10 to 15 percent chance in the next 50 years of having a significant earthquake. In preparation for this, the Governement of BC has budgeted 1.5 billion dollars for the seismic mitigation program for current B.C. schools.

Many schools in BC are built using unreinforced CMU block, either single or split stacked. Octaform was invited to take part in a University of British Columbia testing program at the Earthquake Engineering Research Facility to test potential seismic upgrade solutions that could strengthen these types of walls. Two tests have been completed with each Octaform wall performing exceptionally well. For more information on the UBC Restoration and Repair Testing Program CLICK HERE(
