Octaform Systems Inc. is pleased to inform you about our newest project in La Crete, Alberta. Octaform™ supplied components for a wall 26 feet 8 inches tall, for an industrial truck shop. This is the second project for this customer and a new improved 10 inch connector has been used. |

This newly designed stronger connector has better construction flexibility and greater tolerance to heavy loads. It allows higher concrete placement rates without exceeding the PVC's allowable yield strength, or industry concrete placement standards. The Octaform™ Research and Development Team have initiated a pilot program with the Department of Science and Engineering at the University of Seattle, Washington. This program is intended to evaluate our new designs and subsequent applications for Octaform™ Systems.
This independent study will validate our assertions that concrete encapsulated in PVC provides ideal curing conditions, which can lead to higher strength gain. In particular, when high volume fly ash is used, this increased strength gain can be maintained while using reduced cement content. Also, this study will confirm that PVC stay-in-place forms confined concrete, enhances its mechanical properties and also has higher flexural strength when compared to regular concrete without PVC.
This research study will focus on the following:
- Ideal curing conditions created by PVC confinement and the relationship to compressive strength.
- Increased flexural strength and toughness of an Octaform™ encased reinforced beam.
- Heat evolution in an Octaform™ cell.
