A long-term, reliable infrastructure for fish rearing
The Dan Speas Fish Hatchery, established in 1957 and expanded in 2005-2012, serves as a critical facility for fish rearing in Wyoming. Its renovation aimed to modernize operations, ensuring the efficient incubation and growth of fish from eggs to catchable size. The hatchery receives eggs from various sources, including wild brood stocks and domestic suppliers. With a focus on maintaining optimal conditions for egg incubation and fish growth, the hatchery utilizes both cooler well water and warmer spring water as needed.
